My Philosophy

I believe that we all do the best we can. I believe in the wisdom of the individual and the strength in each of us. I believe that there is power in our stories. I believe that we are stronger together. I believe we can change, do better and be better in our daily lives. I believe that small steps turn into big changes. I believe in being brave, finding your voice and believing in yourself. I believe that laughter is the best medicine and not taking ourselves too seriously.

I focus on relationship first in all the work that I do. I focus on connection and the strengths of the individual to drive the work and the change.

Other approaches that I integrate into my work include: narrative based therapy, cognitive behavioral therapy, strength based work, family systems therapy, solution focused therapy and cultural sensitive therapies.

Individual Therapy: Adults

Starting or re-starting therapy is a brave step. Therapy is dynamic, honest and explorative. It is so important that the therapist and client are a good fit. When working with clients I use a collaborative approach. The client is the expert on themselves. I am here to walk next to you on this journey. I strive to create an inviting and safe space for you to feel comfortable sharing your unique situation and to explore ways to move forward in a healthy way.

Working with children

Child (5+) therapy
When working with adolescents, I feel it is important to include parents in the process. While I aim to provide the same level of confidentiality for adolescents as I do for my adult clients, parent involvement is vital to the well-being and progress of the child in counseling. Ideally, parents are included, with the child's involvement, in counseling sessions every 3-4 months.

Fee & Cancellation policy

My fee for a 50 minute therapy session is $180

My fee for a 60 minute supervision session is: $150

I do not accept insurance at this time but if you are interested in using your insurance, you may be able to get reimbursed for a portion of our sessions if you have out-of-network benefits. I'm happy to discuss this further if you'd like.

Cancellation Policy
If you ever need to cancel a session, please do so at least 24 hours in advance. Sessions cancelled with less than 24-hour notice may be charged up to the full session rate, depending on the nature of the circumstances. You can call, text, or email me about cancellation and rescheduling.

My Experience.

As a social worker for over twenty one years my specialty is creating a safe space where people feel seen and heard.

I grew up near Washington, DC. I moved to Oregon as a teenager. I attended Oregon State University for my BS degree and Portland State University for my Masters in Social Work. I returned to the East coast to begin my career in the school system working with special education preschool, as well as, kindergarten through fifth grade. After returning to Oregon, I worked as a medical social worker in hospice care and then transitioned to working at Shriners Hospital for Children working with children ages 0-21 and their families. I am currently a qualified mental health provider for Portland Public Schools.

My experience gives me a vast understanding of stages of development, grief and loss, end of life issues, parenting needs and children to young adult challenges.

I love to spend time with my beloved family, friends and dog. My most challenging and rewarding job is being a parent to four wonderful children. I love to read, travel and hike in our gorgeous Pacific Northwest. I love to laugh.

“May all that is unforgiven in you be released, May your fears yield their deepest tranquilities, May all that is unlived in you Blossom into a future graced with love ”
